Travel from St. John’s NL to Gros Morne Cabins, Rocky Harbor, NL
439 miles 8 hours 5 minutes   YES, it takes this long and you will see lots of trees.
Lunch on the road at a Ches’s Fish and Chips– Check them out online. This one was in a shopping mall, it’s great fried fish and it’s usually fresh fish in the summer.
Dinner was fresh steamed lobster from The Fish Plant, Rocky Harbour This place is amazingly inexpensive and you have to get there before 4 pm as the last boil occurs at or before 5 pm. You place and pay, then you pick them up at the time they tell you and you eat the best freshest lobster you have ever had. We did this twice.
Overnight: Gros Morne Cabins, Rocky Harbor, NL  These cabins are amazing and have kitchens in them.

Wednesday, June 25

Travel from Rocky Harbour to St Lunaire-Griquet, NL 217 miles 5 hours
Lunch at THE FISHERMENS GALLEY
Toured L’anse Aux Meadows (we snuck in). Yes, it was raining, a tour bus had just arrived and we went in with them.  Because the weather was so bad, many didn’t go out to tour the site.  It was very good and the docents do a good job of giving you and overview of the life and times of the Vikings.
Dinner with a Viking at THE DAILY CATCH RESTAURANT. You may want to see if this is still being offered, as it was a hoot.  The meal was nice, but the gentleman, dressed as a Viking, told old tales and had a wonderful time.

Lunch: SEASIDE RESTAURANT Trout River, NL   GREAT fish and food. Come out of the cafe and while facing the restaurant look to your right, there is a path to the point.  I really enjoyed this spur-of-the-moment walk.
Hiked a seaside trail in Trout River, and talked with a native about his garden.  Easy and fun.
Overnight: Gros Morne Cabins, Rocky Harbour, NL

Whale Watching through CELTIC RENDEZVOUS COTTAGES. THIS IS IT!!!  Whales and puffins galore,  geology, and amazingly wonderful birds.  Try to find this guy, he has a bed and breakfast and will get you in as close as you legally can.
Lighthouse Picnic at the Colony of the Avalon and what a memory this is.   You will have to park and walk about half a mile, so make sure with your reservation and you will need one, give yourself time to get there.  The students of the culinary school do this and it is lovely. The gift shop at the beginning of the village is EXCELLENT.
